VCA Structural has an immediate opening for a hands-on engineer to work with an enviable list of top-tier developer and architectural clients who are active with large-scale new construction developments throughout the West Coast. This position requires an appreciation for practical solutions because your resume will quickly grow to include a substantial list of successfully completed projects. Projects include wood, steel and concrete construction with an emphasis in new, ground-up construction.The Structural Design Engineer Overview:You'll utilize your structural engineering expertise and track record of productivity to perform a variety of design tasks in collaboration with a design team. While developing creative solutions to project challenges, you'll demonstrate your proficiency in the use of state of the art design and documentation tools to complete engineering tasks. As the successful candidate, you'll possess organizational and time-management skills necessary to prioritize responsibilities as needed. You'll continually increase your technical knowledge through company training sessions and interaction with experts who have decades of experience with wood, concrete, steel, and masonry design. You'll receive personalized mentoring to help you achieve your desired professional development objectives.Are you feeling like nobody knows you exist? Internal Visibility: This position reports directly to a Project Manager of the firm and routinely works and interacts with Project Engineers, Design Engineers, CAD/BIM Technicians, Structural Observers, as well as other individuals to maintain a collaborative working environment.Your Primary DirectiveThe Design Engineer position is responsible for preparation of construction documents and supporting calculations in product types including, but not limited to, high-density multi-story residential mixed-use apartments (podium & wrap type), detached single family, senior/affordable housing, commercial, hospitality and parking structures. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment and will initially work in a supporting role utilizing cutting edge technology to create industry leading construction documents that are well-coordinated and cost efficient.
