Full job descriptionJob Title: Commercial Contracting Business Analytics InternLocation: Atlanta/Smyrna, GAJob Type: Internship (Hybrid - Onsite 2 times a week) Educational Standing: Junior, Senior, MastersDates: May 19 - August 1st 2025Market Access Contracts & Pricing is looking for an analytical thinker and problem solver, upper-level undergraduate or graduate intern with a focus in data science or business analytics. Student must have an interest in learning and using analytical, modeling, and forecasting tools to answer high Gross-To-Net impact (Pharmacy Benefit Manager Contracting) business questions and make recommendations and proposals to US Pricing Committee (USPC), US Leadership Team, Global Pricing Committee, Executive Committee and UCB Board of Directors. Role will focus on enhancing business intelligence by connecting various business situations and market trends to provide a holistic analysis on the impacts to UCB current and future business. Student will work with the team to validate $250+ million in 340B transaction using multiple tools and data sources. Results of work will enhance foundation of 340B analysis and potentially save the company $10+ million in years to come.After a five (5) year journey (C&P has four data scientist), Contracts & Pricing has built a case for hiring great analyst and programmers with no direct biopharmaceutical experience. These analysts are taught the business of pharma and empowered to make the most powerful impact to our ability to be both agile and self-sufficient in our analytics. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring data scientist to understand the inner workings of a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer, here in the Atlanta with an excellent base of talent coming from Georgia Tech, Emory, UGA, and other great schools in the area. This internship is intended to recruit great talent and keep them in the area and hopefully here at UCB.Responsibilities may include:· Updating analysis based on the impact of recent Policy changes, e.g., Medicare Part D IRA / Redesign.· Understanding new landscape and patient reach potential for new-launch products.· Identifying purchase trends and inflection points of the 340B program.· Enhancing current matching logic for customer identification.· Maintaining customer tracking purchase behavior with key accounts across all Channels and Books of Business.· Developing new findings and presenting to USPC & USLT.Learning Objectives· Gain understanding of product flow from product manufacturing to patient pick-up.· Develop analytical approach on problem solving.· Learn new tools and become proficient at data analysis· Build foundational knowledge of Contracts & Pricing's integral responsibility to UCB's contract financials.· Proof-out UCB's data model, governance, analytics, and Business Intelligence (working within the confines of UCB to be independent of vendors and agencies).· Build Artificial Intelligence to track key clients and trends, i.e., 340b impact to UCB revenue leakage.UCB Career PathStudent will work as intern for 1-2 summers, gaining knowledge of Market Access & Pricing and specifically inner workings of Contracts and Pricing department. The intern will develop analytical skills, positioning them to be a qualified candidate for mid-level analyst position on various MAP and/or I2I teams.This project specifically will educate the intern on the Commercial Pharmacy Benefit Manager Contracting, 340B program, account purchase behavior, 340B financial impact to business, other key market trends, with potential remedies. Such work will further enhance UCB's ability to negotiate duplicate discount contract language and prevent UCB double-discounting of product and revenue leakage.Tools or processes developed during internship will become automated and data refreshed on a quarterly bases to provide the most up-to-date analysis available.Qualifications:· Technical undergraduate student with a focus of data science or business analytics. · Graduate student studying data science or MBA with a concentration in business analytics.· Problem solving and analytic thinker.
