Position Overview:ThinkingAhead has been exclusively retained by the California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA), to help them find their next Deputy Director of Multifamily Programs.CalHFA is one of the highest rated HFAs in the country and has national visibility and influence. In this pivotal and impactful role, along with the Director of Multifamily Programs, you'll be responsible for planning organizing, coordinating, and directing the activities of the Multifamily Lending teams, the Multifamily Disbursement units, and the Asset Management programs. This position interacts regularly with the Executive Management team, Board Members, and Senior Loan Committee; has significant influence on all Multifamily Program underwriting proposals, Multifamily program development, and is responsible for Multifamily Program policy decisions.The right candidate will be passionate with a deep commitment to affordable housing initiatives and be excited to provide thought leadership, support, and training for the teams. The right candidate will also need to be commutable on a hybrid schedule to their office in Sacramento. MULTIFAMILY CREDIT AND/OR LENDING EXPERIENCE IS A MUST.The Opportunity:The Multifamily Programs Division is responsible for the financing and ongoing management of the California Housing Finance Agency's (CalHFA) Multifamily lending portfolio and subsidy programs. Multifamily Programs Division provides loans that facilitate the development, rehabilitation, and preservation of affordable housing projects by partnering with localities as well as for-profit and nonprofit developers. The Multifamily Programs Division also leverages or increases the purchasing power of, other funding sources, including funds from other state agencies, allocations from the California Debt Limit Allocation Committee (CDLAC), and the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC).Established in 1975, CalHFA was chartered as the state's affordable housing lender. Our Agency's Multifamily Division finances the development of affordable rental housing and our Single Family Division provides down payment assistance to low and moderate income first-time homebuyers. CalHFA is a completely self-supporting state agency that does not rely on taxpayer dollars for its operation costs, but regularly administers various state and federal resources on behalf of the state.
