Position SummaryThe Senior Vice President of Operations (SVP of Operations) will play a pivotal role in driving the overall operational excellence and growth of the company's C&I solar development initiatives. This leader will oversee and optimize project execution, process efficiency, and team performance across the full project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires strategic vision, hands-on leadership, and a deep understanding of the solar development and construction process, particularly within the Commercial & Industrial sector. Reporting to the CEO, the SVP of Operations will serve as an influential member of Valta's senior leadership team. This role will be onsite between our Dana Point, CA Corporate office, Ontario, CA warehouse and various project sites across the western united states.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Strategy and LeadershipDevelop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company's overall goals.Identify and optimize processes to drive efficiency and scalability in project execution.Define operational priorities and resource allocation, seeking input collaboratively across the business.Support reporting to the Board of Directors, Investment Committee, or other reporting needs as needed from time to time.Team Development and LeadershipBuild, mentor, and manage high-performing operational and project delivery teams.Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.Provide leadership to operations staff, including project managers, engineers, and field personnel.Financial and Performance ManagementDevelop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting, cost control and operational efficiency.Drive KPIs for operational excellence, including safety, quality, schedules, and profitability.Collaborate with finance teams to align project costs, forecasts, and resource plans.Act as escalation point for Accounts Receivable collections and potential lien/legal action as necessary to facilitate cash flow.Operations Team OversightOversee the full project lifecycle, from development and design through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and asset management.Lead the development teams to ensure design, permitting, and interconnection processes are efficient, and standardized.Lead the project management teams to ensure on-time, on-budget, and quality project delivery.Lead the construction teams to ensure projects are built on-time, on-budget, and adhere to Valta's safety and quality standards.Lead the asset management teams to ensure QA and QC protocols are implemented at key milestones and are well documented, our operating assets are performing up to company standards, and all reporting requirements are met. Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.Supply Chain and Vendor ManagementOversee procurement strategies, including vendor selection, contracts, and supply chain performance.Build relationships with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers to optimize project delivery.Ensure the Ontario, CA warehouse is operating optimally, ensuring proper protocols are in place for safety, inventory management and facility maintenance. Process and Technology ImprovementEvaluate and implement tools, technology, and processes to enhance project execution and reporting.Streamline workflows to enable scalability and accountability as the company grows its C&I solar portfolio.Regulatory Compliance and SafetyEnsure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations for solar project development and construction.Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and best-in-class safety practices across all projects. Manage and Report all Safety Metrics including Incident Rate, Experience Modification Rate and OSHA 300 Log information.Client and Industry RelationshipsEstablish strong relationships with clients' executive teams to foster continual business and issue escalation management.Network with the industry manufacturers, vendors, subcontractors and partners to position company appropriately to successfully leverage outside resources. Serve as escalation point for complex client issues and work collaboratively across the business to resolve.QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or related field. MBA preferred.Experience10+ years of progressive experience in operations, project management, or construction, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the C&I solar or renewable energy sector.SkillsStrong leadership, collaboration, and team management skills.Proven track record in large-scale solar project execution and operational optimization.Deep understanding of project management methodologies, budgets, and KPIs.Familiarity with EPC contracts, permitting, supply chain management, and solar construction processes.Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).AttributesStrategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.Culture:Each team member is regarded as an expert in their field.
