The AHD family of wholesale brands includes Made Goods (flagship furniture made from unique materials); Pigeon & Poodle (home and bath accessories); Blue Pheasant (handcrafted tabletop products) and Burton James (seating home furnishing).About the Role: We are seeking a hands-on Application Architect with strong expertise in Snowflake and MS SQL Server to lead the design and development of modern, scalable application frameworks. This individual will be instrumental in replatforming legacy systems and implementing a microservices, API-driven architecture to support modularity and long-term scalability. The ideal candidate will combine strategic architectural vision with practical development skills and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This individual embraces and supports our in-person/on-site work culture and embodies our company values ofOwnership, Collaboration and RespectWhat You'll Do:Architecture Design: Design and implement modular, API-driven microservices architecture to enable system scalability and maintainability.Hands-On Development: Build and optimize applications, writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code in alignment with project goals and timelines.System Replatforming: Lead the replatforming of existing systems to modern frameworks, ensuring a seamless transition with minimal disruption.Database Expertise: Utilize Snowflake and MS SQL Server for database architecture, query optimization, and performance tuning, ensuring robust data integrity.Stakeholder CommunicationEffectively communicate with internal business stakeholders, ranging from end-users to senior management, ensuring clear understanding and expectation-setting.CollaborationWork closely with cross-functional teams to assess needs, propose solutions, and implement enhancements, while aligning with project goals and deadlines.Code Refactoring: Refactor and re-engineer legacy codebases for enhanced efficiency, simplicity, and performance.Team LeadershipLead and mentor a team of junior developers by providing guidance, advice, and coaching, fostering their professional growth and enhancing team performance.Skills & Experience Required:Experience6+ years of relevant development experience or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.Independence and TeamworkComfortable working independently with minimal supervision but also thrives in a team-oriented environment.Proficiency in .NETExperience with Microsoft .NET development (C#, Web Forms) using Visual Studio, along with knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, XML, and Web Services.Snowflake ExpertiseExperience with Snowflake as a data platform, including data warehouse architecture, query optimization, and performance tuning.MS SQL ExpertiseStrong proficiency with MS SQL, including database design, query optimization, normalization, and performance improvements.Proficiency in hands-on development: Preferably in languages like Python, C#, or Java, with experience in building APIs and microservices.Analytical & Problem-Solving SkillsStrong ability to troubleshoot, think outside the box, and identify opportunities for process improvement.Re-engineering & RefactoringDemonstrated experience in re-engineering and refactoring code to improve simplicity, efficiency, and overall performance.Team LeadershipAbility to lead and mentor junior developers, providing guidance, advice, and coaching to elevate their skills and team performance.Organizational SkillsCapable of managing multiple projects with excellent time management and communication skills.CI/CD UnderstandingExperience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) to ensure smooth and efficient development cycles.Attention to DetailExcellent troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality and reliable software solutions.Ideal Candidate Profile:Self-starter with a proactive approach to solving problems and improving systems.Experience in both independent work environments and collaborative team settings.Passionate about technology, with a focus on delivering high-performance, efficient code.Comfortable with communicating and aligning with stakeholders at all levels, from end-users to C-suite.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
