Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc., Managers of the American Club mutual insurance company and Eagle Ocean Agencies, is hiring a P&I Claims Executive as part of its US team. The position requires knowledge, understanding, and demonstrated interest in the global shipping industry, particularly the marine insurance market. Candidates should have preferably 2-10 years of legal experience in the maritime industry handling a variety of marine claims, whether in private practice, marine insurance company, owner, charterer, or ship management company. Personal injury experience is required. Excellent communication, and negotiation skills as well as a US Work authorization are required.This is a full-time hybrid (three days in-office) work position from either the New York or Houston offices.Responsibilities include:Open, analyze, investigate, manage, settle, and otherwise resolve claims throughout the Americas primarily involving personal injury and occupational disease, but will also include pollution, collision, third party property, immigration, and other marine casualties.Ensure claims handling and reserving are conducted in compliance with the Club's rules and regulations, applicable law and applicable authority, company policies and procedures.Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with members, correspondents, brokers, lawyers, surveyors, and other third-party vendors.Appoint surveyors, correspondents, and lawyers as appropriate to assist with the claim management and resolution.Evaluate coverage, liability, recoveries, and other exposure. • Attend mediations, arbitrations, and trials as necessary.Preparation of periodic status reports for members, brokers, underwriters, and management.Timely process member reimbursement requests and other payments as allowed in the Club's rules and as set out in the company claims procedures.Represent the Club at industry events and participate in industry workshops, courses, seminars, and other career development events.Perform other duties as requested.
