My clientis a leading international freight forwarder committed to providing exceptional logistics solutions to our clients worldwide. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Ocean Import Agent to join our dynamic team in Boston, MA. The Ocean Import Agent is responsible for coordinating and managing the import of goods by ocean freight, ensuring smooth and efficient operations while adhering to all relevant regulations. This role requires excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong understanding of international trade and customs procedures.Responsibilities:Manage the entire ocean import process from origin to destination, including:Receiving and processing import documentation (e.g., bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists).Arranging bookings with shipping lines and coordinating with overseas agents.Tracking and tracing shipments and providing regular updates to customers.Managing customs clearance procedures, including filing entries and resolving any customs-related issues.Arranging inland transportation for delivery to final destination.Ensure accurate and timely processing of all import shipments, adhering to strict deadlines and compliance regulations.Classify imported goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).Calculate and process duties, taxes, and other import fees.Communicate effectively with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, customs brokers, and other stakeholders.Proactively identify and resolve potential shipment delays or issues.Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and documentation.Stay up-to-date on changes in import regulations and procedures.Handle and resolve discrepancies in shipment documentation or cargo.Manage relationships with vendors, including truckers, warehouses, and other service providers.Qualifications:Minimum of 3 years of experience in ocean import operations.Strong understanding of import regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.Proficiency in customs brokerage software (e.g., CargoWise One, Descartes).Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications:Customs Broker License (CHB).Knowledge of Incoterms.
