Primary Purpose: Responsible for managing and maintaining technology assets to ensure they are effectively tracked, utilized, and optimized throughout their life cycle. The Technology Asset Specialist oversees the acquisition, tracking, deployment, maintenance, and disposal of technology hardware, software, and related assets. The role ensures compliance with organizational policies, optimizes asset usage, manages costs, and maintains accurate records to support operational efficiency and decision-making.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Special Knowledge/Skills:Proficiency in asset management tools, databases, and software (e.g., Incident IQ, Microsoft Excel).Strong understanding of IT systems, hardware, and software lifecycles.Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Knowledge of licensing agreements, compliance requirements, and vendor management.Experience:2-5 years in IT asset management, procurement, or a similar role.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Asset Management:• Maintain an accurate inventory of all technology assets, including hardware (e.g., computers, servers, peripherals) and software (e.g., licenses, subscriptions).• Track the lifecycle of IT assets from procurement through decommissioning, ensuring timely upgrades and replacements.• Create and update records in asset management systems, ensuring data integrity.• Monitor software licenses to ensure compliance with agreements and avoid penalties.Procurement and Deployment:• Coordinate with vendors and procurement teams to acquire technology assets in line with business needs and budgets.• Assist in negotiating vendor contracts and evaluating cost-effective procurement strategies.• Oversee the deployment, configuration, and distribution of IT assets to end users.Monitoring and Reporting:• Conduct regular audits of technology assets and reconcile discrepancies.• Generate reports on asset utilization, costs, depreciation, and compliance for management review.• Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency through asset optimization.Support and Maintenance:• Coordinate repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities for IT assets as needed.• Ensure proper storage and disposal of obsolete or damaged technology in compliance with data security policies and environmental regulations.Policy and Compliance:• Develop and enforce IT asset management policies and procedures.• Ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and vendor agreements.• Provide training to employees on proper asset usage and security.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneWork Environment:• Office-based with occasional travel to other sites or data centers.• May require lifting and moving IT equipment.This document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.
