TRS Staffing is currently seeking a dedicated Director of Food Safety on behalf of our partner, a family-owned dairy business in Neenah, Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will come from a Dairy background and hold technology + audit facilitation experience. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the COO and will operate 100% on-site. Position OverviewThe Director of Food Safety will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and sanitation across all dairy processing and manufacturing operations. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements. Food Safety practices and applications, quality assurance, and sanitation practices specific to the dairy industry. This leadership role ensures that all production processes meet or exceed regulatory, customer, and company standards for product quality and safety. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, and promote a culture of quality and food safety.Primary Responsibilities:A champion for the Food Safety Management System (GFSI-FSSC 22000) Develop and implement comprehensive food safety, quality, and sanitation strategy Work with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.Direct/compile/present Management Reviews Oversight of Food Safety training Manage customer and regulatory plant Inspections/audits Maintain GMP audit program and scheduling Oversee contract manufacturer audit/inspectionsLead Food Safety and Food Defense programs to meet regulatory requirements Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, WDATCP, FSSC 22000, USDA, HACCP)Lead Quality Assurance department Responsible for the Quality Assurance Programs that ensure all products meet all the appropriate specifications, regulatory and customer requirements including quality control product testing and inspection protocolsCrisis Management, i.e leading recall processStay current with industry regulations/standards, ensuring organization compliance Conduct regular in-house audits and facilitate external inspections and audits to ensure adherence to quality, GMP, and safety standardsAdditional duties and responsibilities as assigned Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills, Education, Training: Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, or a related field, Master's preferred but not requiredMinimum of 10 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation (within dairy industry a plus)Proficient knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards. HACCP development training Better Processing School certified (or will be come soon after) WDATCP Pasteurizer certified FDA Food Defense Vulnerability Assessments-Key Activity Type certification Technical and analytical skills: testing, auditing, inspection, and problem solvingKnowledge of QMS, SAP-QM, and LIMS database structures Working knowledge of FDA and WDATCP regulations and CFRs for food manufacturing Proven leadership and team management skills.
