Planning, directing and controlling the operation of the store and supervision ofemployees to control production, inventory, merchandising, losses, gross, and net profit and hours of work inall departments. Assist in supervising the ordering of product to fill the store, support sales plans and maximizesales, in addition to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and (if applicable) the collectivebargaining agreement. They can be responsible for assistance in hiring process and taking disciplinary actionfor all employees.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / REQUIREMENTSProviding quality customer service is an essential component of every position within Daves Supermarketstores. Each position serves its own group of customers, which may consist of consumers, co-workers, vendorsand business associates. As much care should be given to handling our internal "customers", as the ultimateconsumer.Assist the Store Manager with day-to-day operations and act as manager in charge in the absence ofthe store manager.Read and interpret financial statements or goals, including profit and loss, and set objectives toovercome deficiencies.Program a cash register and balance store cash.Create work schedules and reports.Enforce company policies and procedures.Assist with supervising and training of employees.Provide employees with verbal and written direction, take disciplinary action as necessary.Conduct meetings to communicate business results and direction to employees.Deal effectively with vendors, suppliers, competitors, employees and (where necessary) employeerepresentatives.Provide support to associates during peak periods or when scheduling conflicts arise.Ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient.Operate all equipment as needed in the store.Perform all other duties as assigned by Management.SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITESJob Title Assistant Store ManagerDepartment Front EndReports To Store ManagerFLSA StatusSupervise 40+ individualsCOMPETENCIESActive Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand thepoints being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.Mathematics - Using basic mathematics to solve problems.Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternativesolutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to developand evaluate options and implement solutions.Language - Must be proficient in English. The employee needs to constantly move about inside the store. They are constantlymonitoring employees and occasionally operating a cash register and scanning device. The individual mustoccasionally position self to crouch, bend, and twist when operating the cash register and bagging groceryitems with continuous reaching and simple grasping involved. They must be able to exchange accurateinformation when interacting with customers and other staff. The individual must occasionally lift, push, pull,and/or move up to 40 pounds.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe person performing this job may be exposed to outside weather conditions when assisting customers.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
