Defense Engineer - On-Site OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Defense Engineer to join our team in the design, development, and implementation of advanced defense technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all engineering processes and deliverables meet the highest standards set by the Department of Defense (DoD) and other regulatory bodies. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the defense sector and a strong understanding of DoD standards and compliance requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and test defense components, including hardware, software, and integrated technologies, ensuring compliance with DoD standards and specifications.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and project managers, to deliver robust solutions that meet mission-critical needs.Ensure that engineering processes align with DoD acquisition guidelines and lifecycle management procedures, such as the Defense Acquisition System (DAS), and applicable MIL-STD (Military Standards) requirements.Participate in risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and performance testing to guarantee reliability and security in compliance with DoD and industry regulations.Document engineering designs, technical data, and test results, ensuring full traceability and adherence to DoD Configuration Management and quality control procedures.Support the implementation of cybersecurity standards (e.g., RMF - Risk Management Framework, NIST SP 800-53) to safeguard defense technologies from emerging threats.Ensure the proper integration of new technologies and innovations while maintaining compliance with current DoD technical orders and standards.Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals and project bids that meet DoD contracting guidelines.Continuously monitor updates to DoD directives, standards, and specifications to incorporate into engineering practices.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related discipline).Minimum of 2 years of experience in defense engineering or related field.Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes and lifecycle management.Knowledge of applicable DoD standards, such as MIL-STD-882 (System Safety), MIL-STD-810 (Environmental Testing), MIL-STD-461 (Electromagnetic Interference), and DoDI (Department of Defense Instruction) standards.Strong understanding of engineering principles and their application to defense technologies.Proficiency in engineering tools, software, and methodologies relevant to defense applications.Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Engineering or related discipline.Experience with military platform design, including land, air, sea, and space-based technologies.Active security clearance (e.g., Secret, Top Secret) or eligibility to obtain one.Experience in developing engineering documentation and proposals for DoD contracts.
