We continue to innovate in our development of advanced connectivity solutions, integrated financial services, and machine learning/AI initiatives - all aimed at furthering our mission of being the intelligent platform at the center of our customers' financial lives.We're looking for a highly technical Senior Engineering Manager to lead the development of our newest product offering, Quicken Business and Personal, as well as the integration of AI capabilities into our cloud-based web and mobile apps. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and coding alongside the team when necessary. You will be required to manage a front-end app engineering team with competence in React JS technologies. You are expected to handle people management responsibilities, partner with the technical architects on solutioning, and collaborate closely with stakeholders on project management. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking for an engineering management role that has a transformative effect on customers!ResponsibilitiesMentor and manage a world-class team of web and mobile engineers:Provide career growth paths through proper coaching, individual goal setting, 1-on-1s, performance appraisal, rewards, and recognitionCreate a culture that motivates the team to excel by promoting ownership, empowerment, collaboration, innovation, and transparencyBe hands-on with coding when needed, whether to unblock the team, address critical issues, or demonstrate best practicesDirectly manage the development and delivery of Quicken Business & Personal on web and mobile, as well as AI capabilities in cloud-based apps:Partner with Product Management, Product Design, and Quality to ensure the apps meet functional and visual requirementsEnsure the apps are of high quality and meet the non-functional requirements for performance, scalability, and securityOwn the project management of the apps, working with stakeholders to align roadmaps, track resources and schedules, and proactively address gaps/escalationsOwn the technical direction for the product, ensuring it aligns with the overall architecture and design of the web and mobile application platformManage the development process using Agile Scrum/Kanban and own the release plans, making trade-offs where neededProvide visibility to leadership of the team's priorities, handling team-related communications in established operating mechanismsEnsure the engineers collaborate closely with their counterparts from the cloud services team for seamless integration of the apps with microservicesPartner closely with Engineering Management of Simplifi web and mobile on platform initiatives:Jointly own the engineering platform roadmap to steer important technology decisions related to application architecture and designEnsure the engineering team adheres to best practices (design for reuse, unit testing, etc.) and collaborates on technical insights and problem-solving techniques across the platformQualifications7+ years of experience in the software industry, with 2+ years in engineering managementProven experience as a technical leader with the ability to contribute to codebases when neededVery strong people-management skills/instincts with a track record of leading high-performing engineering teamsSolid capabilities in engineering project management, particularly planning and executionStrong technical proficiency in React Native/Redux web and mobile development technologiesGood understanding of cloud technologies such as microservices, Java, Spring Boot, and relational databasesExperience in developing customer-facing apps is desiredComfortable dealing with ambiguity and driving towards clarity by partnering with stakeholdersAbility to handle dynamic situations, evaluate trade-offs, and balance short- vs long-term when making decisionsStrong experience partnering with Product Management to convert functional requirements to technical deliverablesExperienced in leading teams through Agile development processes such as Scrum and/or KanbanExperience working with UX designers to build easy-to-use visual interfaces in web and/or mobile appsStrong communication skills to work effectively at different levels of the organizationExperience in coaching and mentoring engineers at various levelsExperience with fintech domain would be a plusBS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalentWhat we offerCompetitive salary and performance bonusFantastic culture, strong believers in Autonomy/Mastery/PurposeCustomer-driven, we make money by building the best products for our usersAbility to work with and lead incredible talentBuild products that make a huge difference in people's livesWork on a highly recognizable brand that defines the personal finance categoryQuicken is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The actual salary offered is determined by factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to years and depth of experience, relevant skills, and work location.
