This a hybrid position requiring Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the AOA office located in downtown Chicago.JOB SUMMARYThe Vice President of Information Technology (VP - IT) will oversee the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and security of the AOA's information systems and processes including computer, communication, and office systems.The VP - IT is responsible for long-term strategic planning, progress toward long- and short-term objectives, day-to-day operations, and team composition and management. The VP - IT partners with other AOA senior leadership and external stakeholders and vendors to achieve desired outcomes that align with AOA missions and objectives.The VP - IT must engage with various stakeholders across the organization, including senior executives, department heads, and external vendors. This requires excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a way that non-technical leaders can understand.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEstablishes the strategic direction of the company's information technology (IT); executes this strategy in collaboration with AOA leadership.Ensures excellent, easy-to-understand, clear communication with all stakeholders.Directs and coordinates professional services such as systems analysis and design, feasibility studies, and programming of information, communication, and office automation systems.Identifies and recommends new technologies and services that will improve efficiency, processes, and operations; reviews requests for additional services and upgrades, assessing the costs and benefits to the organization.Approves the purchase, rent, lease, license, or other acquisition of hardware, software, or services needed to meet company needs.Monitors and reports progress on development projects, resource utilization, and production performance to executive leadership.Ensures the integrity and reliability of computerized information systems, communication systems, and office systems including the security of data acquired and stored.Facilitates preparation of project plans and proposals, outlining project objectives, IS requirements, and analytical and programming staffing requirements for proposed systems.Maintains pace with technological progress, economic change, and AOA needs by directing continual professional development of IT staff, maintenance of equipment, and updating of procedures.Supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of IT professionals to ensure high performance and professional growth. Establish clear performance metrics and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members. Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations and goal setting.Prepares, implements, and executes IT budget.Collaborates with Human Resources to recruit, interview, hire, and train management and professional-level IT staff.Oversees the schedules and responsibilities of management-level staff in the department.Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Software Engineering required.
