With deep cross-disciplinary expertise and key partnerships (e.g. with Arc'teryx) we are uniquely positioned to launch the first commercially successful wearable robotic device, the MO/GO, and transform millions of lives in the coming years. More information about Skip and MO/GO can be found at THE ROLE: Junior Mechatronics EngineerWe are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable individual who will explore the peaks and valleys of all problems that may come up while building a new generation of wearable robots for everyday life.You'll work as the person in charge of making sure things do the things they were designed for on our 10-person team, and in collaboration with our other MEs, EE and SWEs, you'll be responsible for improving the reliabilityand accelerating the general development of a new consumer robotics platform. Some of the specific responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to:Design, build and run test-rigsfor mechanical parts, for example a dyno set up for actuator testing, full leg systems for looking at structural fatigue over many cycles etc.Design, build and run electronic test fixtures, e.g. factory validation testing and HILSuggest and build diagnosticsBasic lab management, including helping coordinate part shipping, keeping space clean, safe and functionalWearing prototypes several hours a week to participate in data collection, on-body testing and provide feedbackTravel to vendors to help them implement assembly processesBring joy to the team, participate in embarrassing team events, tolerate KZ's terrible music choicesBasic Qualifications1-3 years' experience in a professional setting as an electrical engineer, mechatronics engineer, reliability engineer, test engineer or technicianExperience with designing and building test fixtures for mechanical reliabilityCompetence coding in python to run powered tests and analyse resultsWilling to do "unsexy jobs" that might include debugging a prototype or repetitive data collection tasksAttention to detail and super organisedAble to deliver quality work in a fast-paced startup environmentAbility to relocate to work at the Skip Bay Area officeSense of humour, tolerant of Aussie & Canadian spellingBonus PointsExperience with robotics or mechatronics Experience with testing for powered consumer electronics (e.g. drones, robot vacuums)Basic C++ skillsExperience in start-up environmentsPersonal motivation to improve human movementTaylor Swift fan.
