Come join X as Payments Product and Commercial Counsel!This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to work at an exciting, fast-paced company as we build payments functionality into the app of everything!Role DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to manage both product and commercial aspects of launching new payments functionality globally. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on payments product development and launch within the U.S. and globally and drafting and negotiating strategic agreements with banks, payment processors, payment networks and other payments ecosystem participants.This role will require significant cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, strategy, public policy, communications, operations, compliance, trust and safety, customer service, information security, finance, and marketing teams, as well as privacy and other legal subject-matter experts, as you help shape the future of payments products to be made available to billions of users worldwide.ResponsibilitiesBecome a deep subject-matter expert in the products you cover, building close connections with product and engineering teams through effective communication and collaborationServe as the first point of contact for your product team's legal questions, and for the broader legal team's questions about your productReview new and changed products, features, platforms and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies across multiple jurisdictionsProvide and coordinate legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues applicable to the product you are supportingDraft and negotiate commercial agreements in support of the features, functionality and distribution of your productCoordinate with public policy, communications, product, engineering, marketing, trust and safety and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development and product development and launchesLocationThis role is full-time, hybrid based at X's offices in New York, NY.QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law schoolAdmission to the bar in at least one U.S. state and membership in good standing with the bar8+ years of experience practicing law with a focus on payments, preferably in the financial services or FinTech industryExperience working with payment networks and processors, banks, and regulatory agencies such as the CFPB, OCC and FinCen. Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate complex legal concepts clearlyAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentAttention to detail and a commitment to excellence
