We're fun and relaxed but we work hard- feel free to break out the jeans and t-shirts!Summary/ObjectiveThe "Jewelry Specialist | Underwriting" will provide specialized support to the underwriting department with a focus on jewelry-related matters. This person will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of jewelry appraisals and valuations within the underwriting department. This position requires deep expertise in fine jewelry and gemstones to provide essential guidance on authenticity and market value. This individual will help drive informed decision-making and maintain high standards in BriteCo's jewelry insurance offerings. They will also perform normal underwriting tasks like reviewing applications, processing documentation, resolving issues with customer paperwork, and more.Qualifications2+ years of experience with fine jewelry pricing and appraisals is requiredGIA Graduate Gemologist certification (or equivalent) is strongly preferredFamiliarity with jewelry wholesale sites and marketplaces such as RapNet, Polygon, Stuller, and moreIn-depth knowledge of luxury name brand jewelry (e.g., Cartier, Tiffany), including market pricing and authenticationExcellent communication skillsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsProven ability to perform well in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, with the capacity to make sound and efficient decisionsSales and customer service experience is a plusCandidate with insurance experience is preferredDigital native; ability to work with a variety of proprietary online applications and toolsResponsibilitiesAct as designated consultant for all jewelry-related inquiriesConduct value checks on insured limits, ensuring accuracy and proper coverage for jewelry itemsConsultations for jewelry and paperwork authenticityResearch wholesale pricing for diamonds, gemstones, and other jewelry itemsServe as the primary point of contact between the underwriting team and jewelersVerify values of items using internal and external sourcesProvide cross-departmental advising on jewelry-related issuesProvide constant feedback for improvements to our internal appraisal toolAnalyze high risk applications, document thought process, and recommending course of action for the companyGather relevant data for your team to make informed underwriting decisionsAssess photo and appraisal documentation of jewelry/watch schedulesResolve issues with documentation and follow up with clientsManage underwriting process for customers including quotes, applications, policies, renewals, and cancellationsSupport senior underwriting staff by processing documentation and maintaining communication with clientsContribute as a valued voice in the company to meetings regarding product updates, performance standards, and recommendations for improvementsBenefitsCasual dress code and work environmentMedicalDentalLong-term disabilityShort-term disabilityCompany outingsPaid trainingUnlimited paid time offCompany sponsored IRAThis role has an approximate pay range of $55,000-$70,000 Please note- This is a role within the underwriting department that requires a deep knowledge of jewelry pricing.
