Associate Technical Designer (Apparel)

Job Summary: Become the Newest Member of the FamilyThe Technical Design Associate will be meticulous with details and driven by the technical aspect of the design process.He or she will work support fittings, measure fit comments to send to vendors, and evaluate samples. This position requires an out of the box thinker who can collaborate with the existing team, outside vendors, and across all levels of the organizationEssential Duties and Responsibilities:• Evaluate and spec samples to determine compliance of measurement, construction and overall quality• Proficient knowledge of POM's and how to accurately spec garments• Prepare for fittings by measuring and steaming samples beforehand, including previous sample and comments.• Participate in fit sessions by fitting on live model, take before/after photos and record comments• Incorporate fit feedback into fittings improve product• Accurately execute comments without supervisor oversight to ensure good revised samples• Ensure all samples are fit and comments are processed within a timely manner• Understanding of fit stages and how to effect seasonal deliveries/deadlines successfully• Illustrate pattern corrections and style comments with Photoshop or Illustrator to communicate accurate and precisecorrections to vendors• Oversee all Fit, PP, and TOP samples• Manage clear daily communication with all necessary cross functional teams and vendorsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Proficient in Excel/Microsoft Office Suite• Strong understanding of garment construction and techniques• Ability to accurately spec garments• Attentive to detail• Knowledge of fabrications and their applications• Ability to multi-task with effective organizational skills• High sense of urgency, punctuality and timeliness• Must have strong work ethic and motivation to learn• Works well individually, as well as, with a team• Strong communication skills• Flexible and adaptable to a very fast-paced environmentEducation and Experience:• 3-4+ years of work experience in technical design and/or patternmaking• Men's and Women's sportswear experience is a plus• Seamless and Bottoms experience is a plus• In depth knowledge of fit, construction, fabric and trims• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite
