HR Manager/Director - Employee RelationsLocation: Midtown Manhattan, NYC (Hybrid - 3 days per week)We are partnering with a renowned media company based in Midtown Manhattan to find an experienced and dynamic HR Manager/Director with a core expertise in employee relations. This newly created, individual contributor role reports directly to the SVP and Head of Human Resources, supporting a workforce of approximately 500 domestic employees and a small international team.About the Role:As the HR Manager/Director, you will serve as the first point of contact for all Tier 1 and Tier 2 employee relations matters, fostering a strong connection with employees and management alike. This role is central to shaping a positive workplace culture by proactively addressing performance and behavioral matters and building trust across the organization.Key Responsibilities:Act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, handling employee relations issues with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.Develop strong relationships with the business, maintaining a pulse on employee morale and engagement.Manage all aspects of performance improvement plans and guide managers through performance and behavioral discussions, ensuring proper follow-up, accountability, and documentation.Partner with managers on disciplinary actions and ensure alignment with company policies and employment laws.Escalate complex matters as needed, working closely with legal counsel and the SVP of HR.Collaborate with the broader HR team to deliver seamless HR support and contribute to generalist functions, including HR processes and initiatives.What We're Looking For:A minimum of 5 years of HR generalist experience, with significant focus on employee relations.Demonstrated success working with creative or innovative populations, such as those in media, technology, or similar industries.Proven ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and build strong, trust-based relationships across diverse teams.Experience supporting a sales workforce is a plus but not required.Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and performance management processes.A collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.What's in It for You:A chance to step into a newly created role and make a meaningful impact on employee relations and workplace culture.Work alongside an exceptional HR team in a well-respected and established media organization.Exposure to a creative and dynamic workforce, offering variety and challenge.A hybrid work environment in Midtown Manhattan with competitive compensation and benefits.If you are an e HR professional who excels in employee relations and thrives in a creative environment, we'd love to hear from you!
