Additionally, our Professional Engineering Group, Rotating Machinery Division, Renewable Energy Services, and Field Repair and local Repair Service Centers, places Shermco in a position to handle all things electrical. All done with an emphasis on safety and client service.Regional Director of EngineeringThe Regional Engineering Director is responsible for guiding teams, managing resources, and driving innovation to meet organizational goals. This position plays a critical role in liaising between executive management and engineering teams, ensuring alignment with the company's vision and objectives. The Regional Director of Engineering reports directly to the Regional VP of Operations. In this role, you will manage the SE locations of Corpus Christi, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Lake Charles TX, and Baton Rouge LA, Mobile AL, Charlotte NC and Nashville TN. Ideally we want someone located in Nashville or Houston or San Antonio or Austin. This can be a remote position but you must reside in one of the locations in the territory. Travel could be up to 20%.Job Responsibilities & ExpectationsLead and manage the electrical engineering team, providing guidance and support to ensure project success throughout the regionCollaborate with SVP of Engineering and other regional Engineering DirectorsDevelop and implement engineering strategies and plans that align with organizational goalsWork closely with Sales team on Engineering opportunities, pursuits and proposalsOversee the design, development, and testing of electrical systems and studiesEnsure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocolsCollaborate across all regional branches to integrate electrical engineering solutions into broader company initiatives and offeringsManage budgets and resource allocation for engineering projectsRecruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent for the regionEvaluate and improve engineering processes and methodologiesRepresent the electrical engineering department in meetings with stakeholders, executive management and clientsQualifications & SkillsBS degree in Electrical Engineering7-10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership roleExperience working on the service side of engineering vs. productPower Generation or Oil & Gas industries desiredExperience with project oriented work (system upgrades (i.e., protective relay enhancements or Brownfield), Systems and Quality studies (ideally power related)Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale engineering projectsStrong understanding of modern engineering practices and technologiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExperience in budget management and resource allocationFamiliarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirementsAbility to think strategically and drive innovation within the teamProfessional engineering license (PE) or equivalent certification (preferred)Strong project management skillsProficient in electrical design software and toolsSolid understanding of electrical engineering principles and practicesExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong leadership and team management abilitiesEffective communication and collaboration skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentOther Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodationsShould be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when requiredMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug testsMust be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background checkAll offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screeningMust be available to work overtime and travel out of town periodicallyMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodationsMust be able to pass a fit for duty physical examMust have a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving recordMust be available for periodic domestic travel; international travel a plus and U.S. passport desiredMust be able to fluently read, write, and speak English.
