Our client is a $150mm multi-strategy hedge fund focused on generating uncorrelated alpha through innovative quantitative strategies and short-term, catalyst-driven investing. The approach is entrepreneurial and hands-on, valuing creativity and adaptability over rigid processes. Strategies center around event-driven opportunities such as tender offers, spinoffs, secondaries, risk arbitrage, merger arbitrage, and closed-end funds. They specialize in valuing esoteric and hard-to-price securities, analyzing LLMs with advanced coding techniques. Success requires a "scrappy" mindset"”being resourceful, adaptable, and eager to tackle challenges.Role Overview:Rare opportunity to work directly with the lead PM in a collaborative, entrepreneurial setting. As a Junior Quant Trader/Researcher, you will play a key role in supporting trading and research efforts while building the skills needed to become an independent contributor to the investment process.Responsibilities:• Collaborate closely with the lead PM to develop and refine quantitative models for valuing complex and structured securities.• Write and optimize code to deploy large language models (LLMs) and other tools for analyzing and extracting insights from developed as well as esoteric data.• Take ownership of operational tasks such as P&L reporting, data analysis, and refining trading models.• Build tools and algorithms to assess and value complex and hard-to-price securities.• Build a foundation for generating self-directed investment ideas, with a goal of proposing actionable strategies by the end of the first year.Candidate Profile:Experience:2-4 years of experience in trading and analyzing complex/packaged securities Demonstrated expertise in software programming and coding, particularly for both large data sets and those with unique, less clean data.Education:Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering.
