This Quality Control Manager will be responsible for the quality standards of products and processes, always being maintained using a series of inspection standards. This individual will keep records of inspections performed, work to resolve non-conformances, and provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of quality control standards. In addition, this person will also help ensure quality performance with associates through the creation and maintenance of work instructions, SOPs, and training. You will also work on continuous improvement projects under guidance from the Senior Director of Quality and Product Compliance Director. Please note, this is a distribution position. This facility is not climate controlled and subject to temperature changes in relation to the seasons.Responsibilities:Manages the inspection of products at key inbound/outbound points in the distribution centerMaintains records of all reports identifying issues and communicate them to business and quality team as neededEnsure high integrity records management practices (review documentation, archive records into the management system, assign record numbers, enter relevant information into the records management tracker, and provide information/reports on request)Lead the Quality projects locally to ensure proper procedure and implementationWork with Distribution Managers to optimize DC workflowAttend daily Managers meeting at DC and update team on QualityAttend regular Quality meeting between the 3 DC locations.Optimize Quality team performance by cross training and regular feedbackPerform worker's yearly performance evaluationProvide recommendations for changes in inspection methods and frequency intervalsRespond promptly to special requests for reprocessing, repackaging, etc.Work with Purchasing and Management to resolve any nonconformances found and ensure issues are resolved with the Weavers (Replace it with manufacturers, not weavers) promptlyWork with Customer Returns department to analyze data and improve QualityUse inspection Data to evaluate and make decisions to improve QualityEnsure the correct packaging of all products according to customer's requirementsVendor Requirements Doc. and/or production standards of the companyInspect the quality of the product before being repackagedManages the decision-making regarding the disposition of non-conforming productsWork with the management team to create and maintain SOPs for all departmentsAssist with the training and onboarding of new associatesAddress any unsafe working conditions immediatelyKnow, Apply, Follow, and Audit the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) within the departmentWhile this is a management position with significant time spent in the office, managers are expected to spend time daily on the floor, inspecting products, collaborating with different departments, and communicating directly with employees in the workspaceRequirements and Skills:Bachelor's degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business, or EngineeringMinimum of 5+ years of related experience in Quality Control within the Home Furnishing CategoryUnderstanding of compliance and testing requirements for different furniture itemsUnderstanding of product production flow from raw material to finished productWorked with vendors directly on product development and improvementFollow up on Corrective and Prevention actions by the vendorASQ Quality Manager to Quality Engineer certification PreferredOther Certifications such as Lean, Six Sigma Green belt preferredLean methodology/tools such as Poka-Yoke, Value Stream mapping, Kaizen is preferredAbility to work effectively and independentlyKnowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VisioStrong leadership, interpersonal skills, ability to manage staff and train and give detailed directionStrong decision-making and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, takes initiative and works well independentlyKnowledge of proper inspecting procedures pertaining to Home FurnishingsThe capability of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously under tight time constraintsAble to work effectively with peers and corporate leadershipAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsQualifications:Ability to sit, stoop, stand, lift a minimum of 50 lbs and walk for up to 8 hours or more per day is requiredDust and fibers are part of a warehouse environment. The employee will come in contact with these substances as wellPowered equipment is used throughout the distribution facility.
