Seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a 12+ month contract (could be extended up to 18 months) for a medical device company in Dublin, CA. This position is a hybrid position - 3 days onsite.Responsibilities:Design of mechanical and opto-mechanical components including but not limited to mechanical layout of electronics modules, PCBA mechanical layouts, detailed design of sheet metal enclosures including EMI and grounding considerations, detailed design of heat sinks and air flow management, detailed design of cables and associated routing/management.Complete feasibility studies to determine preferred design solutions. Implement design approaches and correct design problems.Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture; availability of materials, tooling and equipment; interchangeability, replace ability, reliability and serviceability. Perform tolerance analysis of assemblies and take corrective action as required.Perform airflow and thermal modeling and analysis and use results to inform design and make corrective actions. Release manufacturing instruments, components, assemblies, change orders, BOMs and drawings (including GD&T specifications) as needed.Participate in design reviews and present design to stakeholders. Lead formal definition of mechanical requirements, with associated traceability.Generate formal environmental test plans and reports. Participate in reliability testing. Participate in manufacturing process development and documentation.Use Solidworks for sheet metal design, machined part design, assembly creation and drawing creation. Project will involve regular usage of the following tools: Solidworks Simulation and Solidworks Flow, ANSYS Mechanical and Fluent, 3D printers, Bridgeport-type mill, horizontal late, associated hand tools. 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in a regulated or medical device setting is preferred.Skills:4+ years Mechanical Engineer experienceExperience working in a regulated industryExperience with SolidworksExperience working in a medical device environment (preferred)Experience with ANSYS Mechanical, Fluent, 3D printers, Bridgeport-type mill, or horizontal late (preferred)P.E.
