Project Overview:The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project - the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, extending from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue. We are seeking a Trackwork Design Coordinator/ Discipline Lead who will plan, develop and organize the Design efforts focus on trackwork. Provide administrative and technical support and direction of Design.Responsibilities:Serve as a technical reference for trackwork design on contractor side against Designer and third partiesAs Trackwork Discipline Lead, manages the Track Design team: DBJV team and Designer JVand assumes interfaces with other disciplines: civil, system, structure, stationOrganizes, leads and reports the meeting of Task Force Group Track and actively participates in inter-disciplinary meetingProject wide vision beyond a focus solely on the tracks, solution provider in case of interface issuePays attention on means and methods for track installation, actively participates in constructability review, and implements it during Design developmentKey actor of the design approval process, including steps of design review, constructability review, means and methods interface and incorporation, Client review, 3rd parties review, permitting processPromotes and implements Safety in Design, Environment in DesignQualifications:RequiredBachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.Minimum 10 years' engineering design experience within Design-Build Projects.Minimum 5 years in design and/or design management of trackwork and associated items (direct fixation, ballasted track, track special work, interlocking, open deck, third rail, rail structure interaction).Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or MicroStation.Significative site experience in track construction / installation including methodology, logistic, site feeding, crew management, welding equipment.Ability to assume responsibility, collaborate and communicate effectively with others.Broad generalized knowledge of personnel safety, process safety, and environmental principles / regulations.Analytical ability of track Design: basis of Design assumption, dimensioning, fixation detail.Project management and administrative skills necessary to plan, organize, coordinate, and control the development and execution of many projects - including cost and schedule control.Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast paced manufacturing environment. Excellent technical and problem solving skills to identify alternatives to challenges presented and select the most appropriate solution with minimal guidance or precedence.Experience working on Joint Venture (JV) construction projects.Ability to work in multicultural environment.Valid Driver's License.PreferredRegistration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.Knowledge of a structured project management or project development and execution process a plus.Work Environment:Involves a dynamic and challenging work environment.Includes tasks such as maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, ensuring equipment operates efficiently, and adhering to safety protocols in construction sites.Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site.Physical Demands:Must be able to lift 25lbs.Walking and standing while in-office or on-site.Occasional climbing on and off equipment and bending to inspect.
