Job Title: Incident InvestigatorLocation: Port Arthur, TexasType of Role: Contract POSITION OVERVIEW:Our team is currently looking for an Incident Investigator for a client in the Oil and Gas Industry.The Incident Investigator implements the safety management program by investigating and reporting the causes and contributing factors of environmental, safety, and health events. Monitors worker performance in the field to identify performance deficiencies and coach workers to restore compliance with company safety and performance standards. Identifies, measures and reports on trends impacting site safety performance. Works directly with project-level functional leads (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist them in facilitating, investigating, and analyzing incidents.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Provide assistance in a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of the ES&H program and ES&H Management System to include aiding compliance withES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitmentsInvestigates, determine the underlying causes, contributing factors and corrective actions for complex environmental, safety and health events as a subject matter expert in a highly matrixed organization.Assists with incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reportsCoach and assist field level ES&H representatives in investigating and reporting low-level events.Assists in the identification and correction of performance trends impacting safety performance using principles of statistical analysis and statistical process control as part of continuous improvement.Leads teams in conducting risk assessments, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issuesMaintains ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actionsPrepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retentionResearch complex issues and provide regulatory interpretation and technical adviceRecommends and implements improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potentialAssists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communitiesIdentifies and supports any unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnelParticipates in and may lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programsProvides support to ES&H field and office personnel, inclusive of all ES&H disciplinesMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in ES&H, Management or related science/engineering discipline. 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.Formal training and certification in Root Cause Analysis is required. Certification in Tap Root, Apollo, Blue Dragon, or Six Sigma is highly preferred.5 years' practical experience as a Root Cause Analyst in a large construction, operating, or governmental organization is required.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain, explore and discuss safety issues with a range of stakeholders.Working knowledge of best professional ES&H practices in conducting accident investigations, compliance audits and project health surveys.Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously as a subject matter expert in the field of Root Cause Analysis.Proven ability to operate effectively and work collaboratively in a complex integrated organization.Knowledge of safety procedures, engineering and construction systems, principles, and methodologiesPrior training and experience in formal root cause analysis methodologiesPrior experience as a root cause analyst in a large construction or operating companyPrior experience working within a performance improvement or continuous improvement departmentMust be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to nightshift or split shift.The Global Edge Consultants, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
