In-House Counsel / Assistant General Counsel - Commercial Real Estate (Associate Level)Location: NY, NY Full-time, remote 2 days per weekOur client, a well-established alternative investment fund, is at the forefront of the commercial real estate sector. Currently they have approximately 10B AUM. Sokol Associates Inc. is seeking a talented, driven, and detail-oriented In-House Counsel to join our clients small and dynamic legal team. This is a unique opportunity for an associate from a top-tier law firm to transition into an in-house role and provide strategic legal support across a wide range of commercial real estate transactions.Key Responsibilities:Provide legal support in the structuring, negotiation, and execution of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leases, joint ventures, and financing.Advise on complex real estate-related legal issues, including title, zoning, land use, environmental compliance, and regulatory matters.Draft and review a wide variety of real estate contracts, including purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, easements, and other property-related documentation.Collaborate closely with internal business teams, including development, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment on legal strategy and risk management.Conduct legal research and provide advice on relevant changes in law or market trends impacting the company's real estate activities.Manage outside counsel as needed, ensuring effective and efficient legal service delivery.Assist with dispute resolution, including overseeing litigation and negotiating settlements related to real estate matters.Qualifications: MUST-HAVES!JD from an accredited law school.3-7 years of experience in commercial real estate law, gained at a top-tier law firm.Strong knowledge of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and financing.Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with a keen eye for detail.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment.Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.Active Bar membership in New York, California, or Texas.Why join our client?Competitive salary and benefits package.Opportunity for career growth and development within a dynamic and expanding company.Work-life balance in an in-house environment, with a focus on long-term strategic legal support.Collaborate with high-performing teams and work on high-impact projects.If you're a commercial real estate attorney looking to transition into a strategic in-house role, we'd love to hear from you!
