REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE4+ years' experience as a machinist. Knowledge in the setup, programming, and operation of lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, horizontal boring mills, and vertical boring mills OR knowledge in the setup, programming, and operation of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. Experience measuring, examining, and testing precision instruments such as, micrometers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High School Diploma or GED. Valid Driver's License. Ability to work onsite in Bronx, NY and comfortable responding to emergencies or equipment outages when needed. In this role, you will join a team of 13 machinists and set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools, as well as support advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations. Responsibilities include aligning and securing holding fixtures, and cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. You will study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances, as well as lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts. Looking for an individual with the ability to diagnose machine malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs and apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and procedures for the overall maintenance and safety of machinery. This position requires an individual to work a minimum 40-hour work week on either a 6:00am - 2:30pm or 3:00pm - 11:00pm shift, with the opportunity for over time.
