Job Description: Senior Backend EngineerWe are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to lead the development of our cutting-edge AI SaaS product. Based in New York City's vibrant Flatiron District, our company is at the forefront of building innovative technologies. At Hatz AI, you will have the opportunity to explore new technologies and experiment with state-of-the-art AI frameworks before implementing them. We are looking for someone with strong foundational engineering skills and expertise in Kafka.ResponsibilitiesLead the development and implementation of complex backend functions for our AI SaaS productDesign and develop efficient, scalable backend code using Python, with an emphasis on performance and maintainabilityLeverage Kafka for building real-time data pipelines and messaging systemsUtilize PostgreSQL for advanced database management and real-time functionalityImplement and manage AWS services, particularly focusing on CDK and LambdaCollaborate closely with our Engineering team to integrate AI Technologies (RAG / LLM / GPUs)Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented codeConduct code reviews and play a key role in architectural decision-makingMentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth and knowledge sharingRequirements5+ years of professional software engineering experienceProven experience in backend development using a major programming language (Go, Python, Java, etc.)In-depth knowledge of Kafka and experience in designing and implementing data streaming solutionsStrong expertise in PostgreSQL / SQLProficiency in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc) and Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Terraform, Pulumi, Etc)Experience with RESTful API design and implementationProficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git)Excellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong communication skills and ability to lead and work in a collaborative team environmentGood to Haves / Not RequiredExperience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) implementationsKnowledge of LLM (Large Language Model) integrationsFamiliarity with AI and machine learning conceptsPrevious work on SaaS productsExperience with TypeScript and modern JavaScript features
