Substance Abuse Counselor (MSW or CASAC)

A human services organization in New York City is currently seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to join their team. About the Opportunity:Start Date: ASAPAssignment Length: Contract to HireSchedule: Monday to FridayHours: 7am to 3pm or 8am to 4pmSetting: Methadone clinic onsitePatient Population: Adults with co-morbidities & substance use disordersCaseload: 30 cases, no field workResponsibilities:Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with patients to address substance use issues and related concernsDevelop and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, taking into account their unique needs and goalsFacilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups to address various aspects of addiction and recoveryAssist patients in identifying and developing coping strategies to manage triggers and cravingsProvide crisis intervention and support to patients in times of immediate needMaintain accurate and confidential patient records, progress notes, and treatment documentationQualifications:MSW (clinical supervision will be provided by an LCSW) or CASACSolid assessment and documentation skillsPatient orientedGreat interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong attention to detailHighly organizedDesired Skills:Bilingual (English and Spanish)Experience working with Underserved and Substance Use populations
