A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a new team member to join their staff in Harlem as a Bilingual Spanish Case Manager.About the Opportunity:Start Date: ASAPAssignment Length: Ongoing (potential contract to hire)Schedule: Monday to Friday Hours: 9am-5pm + (one late day- flex) 11am-7pmSetting: Domestic Violence ShelterResponsibilities:The Bilingual Spanish Case Manager will:Engage residents in initial and ongoing treatment processes, through individual and group counselingDevelop and maintain housing referral resources, assist residents in the process of locating and securing permanent housingAssist all residents in the process of referral and placement in community based resourcesAssess residents' vocational and educational needs, aptitudes and interests through interviews and testingDevelop and maintain placement and follow-up as appropriate after assessment and counseling.Participate in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop clinical skills with the client populationAttend weekly individual case supervision, group supervision, monthly case conferences, and staff meetingsDevelop with the resident, a contract of mutually agreed goals and objectives to be accomplished within an agreed upon timetablePerform other duties as assigned by the Social Work SupervisorQualifications:Bachelor's Degree in a Health and/or Human Services-related field with at least 1+ years of experience is requiredBilingual Spanish is requiredTraining and experience in assessing the vocational and educational needs and aptitudes of clientsThorough familiarity and success with engaging clients experience assisting eligible clients through the process of obtaining Public Assistance, Medicaid and other benefitsKnowledgeable and sensitive to domestic violence issuesComputer savvyMicrosoft Office Application proficiencyExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Desired Skills:BA Degree with 1+ year of case management experienceExperience in a Residential Shelter for victims of Domestic ViolenceExperience and demonstrated skills in Group CounselingExperience working with underserved population
