Full Time | Leopard| New York, NY / Hybrid | Software Engineering Lead (Full-Stack)Leopard is an early-stage B2B insurtech startup currently seeking a full-time Software Engineering Lead to help us modernize the life insurance and annuities markets as our first in-house full-stack engineer. You will work closely with the CTO and our nearshore engineering team to build and grow our policy management platform and deliver our clients a clean, high-quality experience. If you are passionate about building high-quality platforms using React and Node, excited to be an early part of our journey bringing data and analytics to insurance distribution, and want to contribute to a high-performing team with unlimited room for growth, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.Note: While the role will primarily focus on hands-on development and technical leadership to start, we are open to candidates who prefer to frame the role on the management track and can discuss title and level as appropriateIn your first six months at Leopard, you will:Design and implement features across the product stack using Typescript, React, Node, Kubernetes, and AWS with a focus on a simple, user-friendly experienceContribute to Leopard's technical and product roadmap, evaluating the feasibility of new features and making tradeoffs when appropriateLead and provide day-to-day technical management of our nearshore engineering team, assisting with code reviews and making sure that you and your colleagues tackle the highest-impact bugs and enhancements and execute to a high level of code quality and usabilityWork with our CTO and data lead to ensure we are maximizing our use of LLMs and other AI technologies in the platformProactively suggest process improvements, ensuring that our standards are not only met, but continuously raisedA little about you:Have 7-10+ years of experience building full-stack cloud-based software systems in a Typescript/React/Node environmentExperienced in providing technical leadership and upskilling your colleagues through code reviews, collaborative development, and technical discussionsShip high-quality, complete work that you own end-to-end in a fast-paced, B2B SaaS environment Possess strong attention to detail, ensuring that it doesn't just work, it works wellHave great communication skills; you work well with others, and you care more about solving the problem than coming up with the best solution yourself Earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering, or have an equivalent combination of education and work experienceAre (or can be) located in or around the New York area, with the ability and desire to work in our office (near Lincoln Center) at least 1-2x per weekExtra Points:Experience in, or familiarity with, the life insurance industry Worked at or founded an early-stage startupProfessional working proficiency in SpanishSalary range:The base salary range for this role is$175,000 - $225,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to work location, experience, and expected performance. The range listed is just one component of Leopard's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include equity awards and other long and short-term incentives.
