CT Technologist

Full time overnight Cat Scan Technologist to work in Far Rockaway overnight 11pm-7am / 5 days Job ResponsibilityPrepares patients for examination and explains procedures and sets up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.Perform CT scans on patients in a hospital or emergency room settingEnsures that a consent form for IV contrast materials has been obtained and screens for pregnancy.Performs CT procedures to include abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, etc.Prepares patients for exam by placing and positioning patients on exam table within the gantry.Monitor patients' vital signs during scansAdjusts and ensures proper slice thickness and couch increment.In collaboration with Radiologist, extends parameters, if needed, within established imaging protocols.Utilizes special devices (i.e. bromide shield) to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas (i.e. breast, thyroid, etc.).Adjusts CT equipment to capture appropriate field of view and transmits cases to on-call Radiologist through use of Tele-Radiology system, as well as administers intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order and performs venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination.Utilizes appropriate flush technique for an existing IV line, if needed and utilizes power injector to administer IV contrast, as well as recognizes and assists in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations.Maintain accurate records of patient information and scan results.Job QualificationValid certification as a CT TechnologistCurrent ARRT (CT) and or NMTCB (CT) Radiology registration required,2 years of technical experience, required.Bachelor's degree preferredNYS License requiredPrevious experience working in a hospital or emergency room setting is preferred.Proficient in operating CT equipment and software.Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentNote: This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position and does not encompass all tasks or responsibilities that may be required.
