Manufacturing Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on our fabrication processes, including, but not limited to, CAM/Plasma CNC table, forming, welding, and grinding. The foundation of this role will be developing, implementing, and maintaining optimal, cost-effective processes and documentation, as well as process improvement, process documentation, quality initiatives, and technology acquisition. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standardsLead process improvement and cost reduction initiativesEvaluate equipment and tools for efficiency improvements, monitor OEEDesign and implement new toolingWork with vendors to determine tool/technology specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standardsEstimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisionsAssist in quality improvement by documenting problems, determining root causes, and implementing preventative measuresCreate and update Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) for documentation of assembly and repair proceduresCarry out process improvement, problem resolution, and project management in an effective and timely mannerCreate and conduct process training for new and current employeesADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Assist with SolidWorks Models/drawings and Bill of MaterialsUnderstand and comply with safety and environmental policies Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriateAdhere to company policiesOther duties as assignedINTERACTION WITH:Most departments, including but not limited to, Design Engineering, Production, Facilities and QualityEquipment vendorsEXPERIENCE:Strong CNC Plasma, welding, metal forming, and assembly experienceCapital equipment selection and justificationVisual Management, Day by Hour charts, kaizen, setting up Kanban replenishment and Cell/Value Stream layoutEXPERIENCE (cont'd):Overhead cranes and forkliftsWork as a team with Engineering, Operations, Sales & Marketing and FinanceSolidWorks and CAD software skills and experience a plusCritical thinking and problem-solving skillsFixture, work holding, tool, and gauge design and manufactureDFMEA experience.Two (2) years of Manufacturing Engineering requiredFour (4) years of relevant experience preferredEDUCATION:College education or Trade school required Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology or Industrial Engineering preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Positive AttitudeExcellent listening skillsAbility to follow directionsAbility to maintain focusMeet deadlinesMath skills required (add, subtract, divide, and multiply)Reading abilities required Ability to writeStrong interpersonal skills Follow safety and materials policies and proceduresAttention to detailWork as a member of a team and as an individualPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to pass physical examAbility to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
