Our client is currently looking for a self-starter to lead the Employee and Labor Relations for their facility in Houston, TX. Employee and Labor Relations RepresentativeJob Description:As a member of the clients team, this position is a critical enabler in the execution and application of our Human Resources processes and policies to ensure positive employee relations. Our Employee & Labor Relations Representatives work with senior HR leadership, business leaders and operations managers to drive strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will have HR generalist experience and will be responsible for developing and maintaining productive business relationships with management and local union leadership. The position is located at our Houston, TX location. Relocation will be considered.The Employee & Labor Relations Representative will be responsible for various activities, including:Job Responsibilities:Ensure the effective delivery of HR Core processes including effective sourcing/recruitment/selection strategies, performance management, reward and recognition, training and development plans, career development, communications, and succession plan/organization development.Serve as a trusted advisor to the plant location and resolve business problems through broad and up-to-date knowledge of Labor Relations and Human Resources competencies such as contract negotiation, grievance handling, progressive discipline, arbitration preparation, local issue settlements, employment law, organizational behavior, change management, best practices and company policy and practice.Interpret the Basic Labor Agreement (BLA) and formulate local strategic positionsLead the handling of all aspects of employee relations, policy administration, and communications within the client group(s).Serve as Ethics and Compliance Manager and key contact for the U.S. Steel's ethics and compliance program.Drive culture of diversity and inclusion.Partner with appropriate COEs for successful resolution to Staffing, Compensation, ER, Compliance and Labor Relations issues to provide high-impact HR solutions.Required Skills:Bachelor's degree in Labor Relations, Human Resources, or a closely related field and at least three (3) years of experience in progressively responsible human resources roles with a focus on delivering results.Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferredExcellent interpersonal, influencing, and conflict management skills necessary to handle sensitive issues tactfully and with absolute confidentiality.Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and presentation, necessary to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including but not limited to EEOC, ADA, Workers Compensation, FMLA, etc.Preferred SkillsLegal background, previous Labor Relations experience, Juris Doctor degree a plus.
