Director of Fleet Maintenance

We are seeking a proactive Director of Fleet Maintenance with strong leadership skills to oversee maintenance operations across multiple terminals. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in truck mechanics and repair management, along with a proven ability to lead teams effectively.Key Responsibilities:Supervise and mentor Terminal Managers to ensure efficient maintenance operations across 3-10 terminals.Develop and implement Standard Repair Times (SRTs) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) protocols to optimize equipment performance.Manage a fleet of over 6,000 pieces of equipment, including trucks and trailers.Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely, high-quality service and support for maintenance activities.Utilize maintenance management software (Transman preferred) to track activities and generate reports.Ideal Candidate:Former diesel mechanic with at least 5 years of management experience.In-depth knowledge of truck specifications and effective maintenance scheduling.Hands-on leader, willing to engage directly in shop operations and troubleshooting.Proficient in maintenance management software; Excel-only users will not be considered.Key Traits:Ambitious and results-driven, with a desire to build a strong reputation in the field.Comfortable multitasking and being deeply involved in day-to-day operations.
