This role requires to be onsite in the Norton, MA office.The Facilities and Equipment Manager is responsible for all aspects of maintenance and repair of mechanical refrigeration equipment and monitoring systems as well as maintenance of all facility support systems (electrical, generators, HVAC, etc.). Responsible for ensuring compliance with company equipment/system validation and maintenance program(s). As required will complete, coordinate and/or oversee simple to complex repairs for all repository mechanical refrigeration equipment and facility electrical and mechanical systems. This role will also assist with EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) for the Norton, MA Facility and be an active member of the safety committee.Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to: Equipment Requirements: Perform or coordinate maintenance for operations equipmentSchedule maintenance and track repairsPerform, coordinate and/or supervise the maintenance and validation activities of all mechanical freezers. Consists of a multi-point evaluation of critical systems, including but not limited to oil level, compressor operation, electrical demand, temperature reading device calibration, etc.Participate in the validation of all new refrigeration equipment and shipping containersReview freezer failures and analyze potential causes, as capableEvaluate complexity of repair needsRepair all problems as capableFacility Requirements: Install and/or coordinate low voltage wiring for Central Monitoring System (CMS)Perform regularly scheduled (weekly, monthly, quarterly) maintenance and repairs on the Central Monitoring SystemsPerform, schedule and/or oversee regular inspection and maintenance HVAC, electrical, and backup power generation systemsEvaluate and/or coordinate repair of general facility issues including, but not limited to roof leaks, plumbing systems, drywall repair, etc.Respond to Building Security Alarms in an appropriate mannerCreate and participate in Facilities Group On-Call rotation, including responding to time sensitive emergenciesMaintenance and Purchase of EquipmentOversee a maintenance plan and program for all company equipment, to include but not limited to Repository Freezers and equipment as appropriateLab Equipment support for all DepartmentsAct as point person for alarms and troubleshooting for the CMSAssist in procurement of new equipment needed to support work and new opportunities, including, but not limited to, lab equipment, supplies and PPE.Supervision:Supervise and manage staff in keeping with expressed objectives and corporate culture, and in doing so, provide a workplace where ideas are sought and considered, initiative is encouraged, success is rewarded, and employees are treated fairly, with respect and recognitionMiscellaneous: Respond to both facility and equipment problems in an appropriate manner during and after regular business hoursRemain current on emerging facility technology and monitoring systemsParticipate in specimen relocations as requiredAid Senior Management in the planning, design and build out of current and future facilities.Coordinate with lab and site management on supply chain (lab, office, café supplies).Employee is required to participate in Emergency On Call List and must report to designated location, in the event of an emergency, within 60 minutes of notification, when on call. All employees are on call in the event of a major emergency and are expected to immediately report to the facility to the best of their ability. Current contact information and changes to phone numbers must be communicated to ensure the Emergency On Call List is properly maintainedMaintain and enhance employees' awareness of Norton office / Laboratory safety.Be an active member of the Norton office safety committee and attend meetings regularly.Carry out other duties/project as assignedQualifications:Minimum Required:High School Diploma or equivalent3-5 years' related experience in mechanical or maintenance, including experience with back-up power supply and switch gear equipment5 years' experience in an HVACR, electrical or similar repair capacity2 years' experience in a leadership role with supervisory dutiesOther Required:Ability to install low voltage electrical wiringHVACR and EPA certification to handle refrigerantsMust possess a valid driver's license allowing you to drive in the state(s) you drive in Able to travel, including overnight staysMust have and maintain a safe driving record and provide proof of such on an annual basis.Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English languagePreferred:Formal training in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR)Two year degree in Engineering
