Maimonides is an affiliate of Northwell Health and a major clinical training site for SUNY Downstate College of Medicine.Maimonides is currently seeking a Professional Coding and Billing Auditor to conduct regular audits of medical records and coding assignments to ensure compliance with current coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.We require:Certification through AAPC (Certified Professional Coder - CPC) or AHIMA (Certified Coding Specialist - CCS) is required.Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding or auditingKnowledge: In-depth understanding of medical coding (ICD, CPT, HCPCS), billing, and healthcare reimbursement processesKnowledge of OBGYN, Emergency Department, Neurology, and Cardiology coding is a plus.Strong analytical, communication, and detail-oriented skills.Key responsibilities:Perform regular audits of coding accuracy, verifying that ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes are used appropriately and align with clinical documentation and regulatory guidelines.Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing education for coding and clinical teams on coding updates, best practices, and documentation improvement to reduce coding discrepancies.Document and communicate audit findings, coding errors, and areas for improvement, providing actionable feedback to coding staff to enhance coding accuracy and quality.Compliance Assurance: Ensure all coding practices comply with federal regulations, such as CMS and HIPAA, as well as with organizational policies, payer guidelines, and coding standards.Salary $79,500.We offer comprehensive benefits including a 403(b) retirement plan.
