We are distinctive in our care, teaching and determination to give these young people a transformative chance to thrive.Required: Students With Disabilities (Grades 1st - 6th)The Special Education Teacher provides tailored educational support students with diverse learning needs. Key Responsibilities:Individualized Instruction: Design and implement personalized lesson plans and educational activities based on each child's unique needs, strengths, and interests.Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to identify students' abilities and needs, develop IEPs, and regularly monitor and document progress.Classroom Management: Create and maintain a supportive, structured classroom environment that fosters learning and positive behavior.Collaboration: Work closely with parents, caregivers, and other educators to ensure cohesive support for students. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide strategies.Behavior Support: Develop and implement behavioral interventions and strategies to address challenging behaviors and support positive social interactions.Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and early childhood education.Compliance: Ensure that all practices are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including maintaining accurate records and documentation.Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with families, providing regular updates on student progress and strategies for continued support at home.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.Certification: Valid state certification in Special Education for early childhood settings.Experience: Previous experience working with children in a special education or inclusive setting preferred.Strong understanding of early childhood development and special education methodologies.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans.Proficiency in assessment and data collection.Compassionate and patient demeanor with a strong commitment to student growth.Physical Requirements:Ability to engage in activities with young children, including physical activities such as sitting on the floor, bending, and lifting.Adequate vision and hearing to monitor and interact with children effectively.Education Requirements:Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Special EducationNew York State Initial or Permanent Certification in Special EducationCertification Requirement: Students With Disabilities (Grades 1st - 6th)Experience:Minimum of one year teaching experience with special needs children in an early childhood and/or special education setting as orMinimum two years as a Teacher Assistant
