Overview: A NYC Mayoral Campaign seeks an innovative, creative, dynamic, and experienced Social Media/Communications Director to lead our campaign's social media/media efforts. The ideal candidate will possess an extraordinary ability to grow a brand, build brand awareness, and leverage the campaign's brand to raise funds. The candidate should also possess organizational and leadership skills, a passion for our vision for New York City, and the ability to foster relationships. This role requires a strategic leader who can navigate complex challenges, grow a brand, and serve as a thought partner with the candidate.The Social Media/Communications Director will work closely with the Campaign Director on all aspects of the campaign's media/social media/outreach, working closely with the candidate to develop and implement the overall campaign strategy. This individual will be responsible for building the campaign's brand and following with an emphasis on fundraising and ensuring the smooth execution of day-to-day activities. The Social Media/Communications Director will ensure the campaign's message and goals are effectively communicated to voters.About the CandidateThe candidate is committed to a grassroots movement that brings communities together and promotes anti-corruption and meaningful change outside of the two major parties. The candidate is policy-driven and seeks to build a campaign coalition of everyday New Yorkers who want (and deserve) better from city government. A back-to-the-basics campaign: better schools, better public transportation, better healthcare, better jobs. The candidate has political experience and is eager for an energetic, passionate, empathetic, fresh, creative, and innovative grassroots campaign. The candidate is in their early 30s, gay, and an educator. A note from the candidate: While experience matters, I am seeking someone who has the attributes I want my campaign to have too: energy, passion, empathy, creativity, and innovation. My campaign will be fresh and creative. I will always prioritize people willing to roll up their sleeves and get the campaign across the finish line over years of experience on paper.Qualifications:Proven experience in leading or managing social media campaigns (Required). Proven experience in fundraising via social media/media (Required).Deep understanding of social media with emphasis on TikTok (Required). Proven experience building a brand and community on social media (Required)Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams.Excellent strategic planning skills.Excellent organizational skills.Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.Strong commitment to the candidate's platform and values.Flexibility to work long hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the campaign.Preferred Qualifications:A background in policy analysis, community organizing, or government relations (Strong preference). Key Responsibilities:Build out custom/original content to build a brand, increase brand awareness, and raise moneyCreate content geared towards TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, X, and SubstackDevelop, refine, and implement the overall campaign communications strategy in collaboration with the candidate and senior leadership.Establish clear goals, timelines, and benchmarks to measure progress.Lead the creation of a detailed media plan, including messaging, outreach, and engagement strategies.Oversee the campaign's communication strategy, including media relations, press releases, speeches, and social media messaging.Ensure that campaign messaging remains consistent, compelling, and aligned with the candidate's vision.Use data analytics and polling results to refine campaign strategies and target outreach efforts effectively.Track voter engagement, identify trends, and adjust campaign tactics based on data insights.Develop content calendar creation and management, including but not limited to: asset selection, copy, tracking link creation, and scheduling of social media posts for all ESRT social channels to be aligned with brand objectives and marketing goals.Develop and manage a program to fundraise for the campaign through influencersOversee ESRT's social media campaigns and content creation.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on ESRT social media engagement and ESB influencer relations.Create content geared towards Instagram Reels, Facebook, and TwitterBuild out custom/original content.Identify and develop partnerships with influential social media/media partners.Grow influencer programs with, but not limited to, influencer outreach, maintain relationships, monthly newsletter, monthly events, and one-off visits.Develop and manage TikTok shop including, but not limited to, merchandise ideation and fundraising through the sale of merchandise.Develop and manage programs to fundraise for the campaign through the support of influencers.Review and edit content calendars from External social agencies to maintain translation clarity and accuracy.Manage expenses/annual budget for social media/media.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEEstablish clear brand alignment and messaging consistency across all social media platforms.Develop a robust content calendar that reflects strategic fundraising goals and ensures timely execution.Achieve measurable growth in social media engagement metrics, such as followers, likes, shares, and overall reach.Build and maintain strong relationships with influencers and brand partners, resulting in successful collaborations and increased visibility.Successfully launched and managed the TikTok shop, contributing to revenue growth through merchandise sales and affiliate partnerships.Ensure all public-facing information is accurate, maintaining credibility and trust with the audience.Create innovative and engaging content that resonates with the target audience and reinforces brand recognition.Effectively manage the budget for influencer relations and social media initiatives to maximize ROI and sustainable growth.
