About Us:We are a high-growth, Google Ventures backed start focused on reshaping the energy sector through optimized power distribution utilizing EV batteries as distributed storage. Our cutting-edge chargers (which we call Distributed Energy Access Points) can charge EVs at 500kW - faster than any other charger in America - but are also small enough to be installed in space constrained urban settings. We have deployed our proprietary technology already in Midtown Manhattan, and over the next few years aim to develop the top network nationwide. We are growing our highly skilled, highly motivated team to execute on the huge market demand for our products and enable hyper-scaling.Job Overview:We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented UI/UX Designer to lead the design of our cross-platform mobile app, ensuring an engaging, intuitive, and accessible user experience for EV drivers. The ideal candidate will be passionate about designing digital products that make a difference, have strong experience in mobile UI/UX design, and be excited to work in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.You will collaborate closely with our product, engineering, and business teams to craft user-centered designs that meet the needs of our customers while aligning with our company's goals. Your work will directly impact the user experience of drivers, fleet operators, and other stakeholders, helping to build the next-generation mobile platform for the EV charging ecosystem.Key Responsibilities:User Research & Discovery: Conduct user research to gather insights, understand user needs, and define pain points through surveys, interviews, usability testing, and data analysis.Wireframing & Prototyping: Design wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that represent the app's functionality and user flows, ensuring smooth interactions and delightful experiences.Cross-Platform Design: Create visually consistent and user-friendly designs for mobile apps on both iOS and Android platforms, following platform-specific guidelines (Material Design for Android, Human Interface Guidelines for iOS) while maintaining brand consistency.Usability Testing: Regularly test and iterate on designs with users to ensure usability, accessibility, and satisfaction. Analyze feedback and user behavior to drive continuous improvement in the app's UX/UI.Collaborative Design: Work closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation of design concepts, providing assets, specifications, and guidance throughout the development lifecycle.Brand & Visual Design: Maintain and evolve the visual design system, ensuring that the app's UI reflects the brand's identity and provides an aesthetically pleasing experience.Accessibility & Performance: Ensure the mobile app is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities, by adhering to accessibility guidelines (WCAG) and best practices. Focus on optimizing the app for performance and speed.Design Systems: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a comprehensive design system, ensuring consistency across all digital touchpoints and future product iterations.Qualifications:3+ years of experience as a UI/UX Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing work on mobile applications (cross-platform or native) - EV infrastructure experience is a plus but not required.Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.Experience designing for both iOS and Android platforms, with knowledge of platform guidelines (Material Design, Human Interface Guidelines).Strong understanding of interaction design, visual design principles, and mobile design patterns.Proven experience in conducting user research, usability testing, and interpreting data to improve design decisions.Familiarity with design systems, responsive design, and accessibility best practices.Excellent communication skills and the ability to present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, fast-paced team in an evolving startup environment.BenefitsTeam Lunches: We believe in fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among our team members. The typical base pay range for this role is USD $130,000 - $180,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for other compensation. All employees receive stock options as part of compensation packages.
