We are looking for a talented and motivated candidate to join our merchandising team.About the RoleThe Associate Buyer is responsible for achieving sales, gross margin, and inventory goals for assigned categories of merchandise. The primary responsibilities of the Associate Buyer include product development/selection, assortment planning and vendor communication. The position reports directly to the Senior Director of Merchandising.Essential Job FunctionsOwn product strategy, product development and buying decisions for assigned categories for each season.Incorporate customer insights, competition, category trends and hindsight to set overarching category assortment vision into business strategyNegotiate pricing, establish order quantities, and manage delivery of samples and bulk.Responsible for managing purchase orders and administration upkeep for specific product categories. This includes writing orders, updating orders, cancellation and necessary follow-up, both internally and externally, ensuring the timely delivery and processing of key shipments.Creates and maintains line sheets.Manage retail pricing based on sales and current promotions. Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with vendors. Research and shop the market for new ideas and trends. Manage planned receipt flow for both bulk and photo sample deliveries. Assist in merchandise catalog creation meetings, turnover meetings, and merchandise style out meetings. Assist in OTB meetings by representing assigned product categories.Accurately provides detailed product information to Creative to be used for copywriting.Ensures accuracy of product copy and pricing through catalog, email, and web proofing. Promptly provides updates to Creative as needed.Assist in developing and executing markdown strategy.Ability to thoroughly report on all aspects of the assigned category business and present recommendations to improve performance. Partner with planning in managing replenishment orders as well as managing the basic product assortment.
