The National Interest seeks a managing editor to lead its forthcoming energy channel, Energy World, which will launch in January 2025. The channel will cover the collision between great power competition and the evolving global energy system, to include political, economic, and technological competition for energy and related commodities and technologies; changing patterns of fossil fuel supply and demand; established and emerging clean energy technologies such as nuclear, advanced nuclear, and renewable energy; energy access, reliability, affordability, and security; energy-related trade and investment; and climate change politics, policy, and diplomacy.Responsibilities:Commission articles and review unsolicited submissionsEdit and post articles dailyWrite articles regularlyConduct and post video/audio/print interviews with experts, businesses, NGOs, and policymakersOrganize periodic in-person and virtual panel discussionsMonitor energy-related developments domestically and internationally; plan content accordinglyBuild and maintain contacts in the energy/climate sector domestically and internationally, including with experts, businesses, NGOs, and policymakersEnsure high professional standards in editing, writing, argumentation, and evidence in published materialQualifications:BA in journalism, politics, economics, international affairs, science/engineering, energy, or related fields5 years journalism or related experience, including 3 years working on energy/climate issuesOutstanding English-language writing and editing skillsKnowledge of international and domestic energy policy, technology, and marketsKnowledge of international affairsEager to work in a small, fast-paced teamWilling to work in The National Interest's Washington, DC office regularlyAuthorized to work in the United StatesTo Apply:Please submit resume, cover letter, salary requirements, and an energy-related writing sample to James Himberger at jhimberger@.
