Our client, a prestige beauty brand, is hiring a Director, Packaging Development to join their team in NYC on a hybrid schedule. Candidates must be comfortable commuting to the office 2-3 days a week with the understanding that frequency can change based on the needs of the business. Candidates must also be able to travel 10% - 20% of the time for conferences, supplier meetings, etc.Job Duties Include:Manage department budget, ensuring efficient resource allocationPartner with procurement to develop and maintain tooling budgetDevelop and execute staffing plans to support department goalsLead performance management efforts, providing mentorship, guidance, and development opportunitiesDevelop and implement processes and procedures in the packaging department to enhance the overall functionIdentify opportunities to outsource for agility, including utilizing vendor development capabilitiesFoster a collaborative and innovative working environmentLead end-to-end design, testing, and validation of new packaging systemsIdentify and implement cost-saving opportunities through material selection, packaging standardization, and continuous improvementsSupport direct reports in problem solving and troubleshooting technical challengesDrive the packaging innovation agenda by exploring new materials, technologies, processes, etc.Identify solutions to meet aggressive timelines, including turnkey and stock solutions, in additional to custom toolingPartner to identify and validate new contract manufacturing partnersSupport new component vendor identification and validation to ensure supply chain agilityJob Qualifications Include:10+ years of experience in packaging development in the beauty and/or CPG industry5+ years in a leadership role with direct reportsMust have overseen a ream of 4 or moreSkincare, Fragrance, and OTC experience preferredBachelor's degree in Package Engineering requiredAdvanced degree is a plusProven track record of successful leadership at the department levelKnowledge of the intersection between package engineering and package designAbility to clearly communicate technical information in non-technical teamsExperience in effectively working with contract manufacturers and component vendorsExceptional communication and presentation skillsSome travel requiredSalary: $180k - $210k annually + bonus PCG, in good faith, believes that this posted range of compensation is the accurate range for this role at this location at the time of this posting.
