Our client, a successful childrenswear brand, is seeking a Designer for their growing team! The Designer will be responsible for the design of Baby/Children's Apparel and Sleepwear. The ideal candidate is highly creative with a strong passion to innovate. The role requires creating original designs that bring imagination to life through watercolor hand-painting techniques, while ensuring the clothing is both functional and comfortable for children. This role is in-office 3 days per week and easily commutable by train from NY to the office in Connecticut.The salary range for this role is $90-120,000 based on experience.Responsibilities:Design and develop children's apparel collections from concept/inspiration through productionCreate unique designs and patterns that reflect brand aesthetic, concept direction, and the business strategyCreate original artwork from drawing to hand painting and digital rendering to execute printsCreate mood boards, sketches, and technical drawings using design software and Adobe IllustratorPresent designs and concepts to senior leadership, incorporating feedback to refine the final collectionDeliver product designs with strong execution, achieving goals with speed, agility, and attention to detailResearch emerging trends found within art, design, and fashion to stay ahead of market demands while incorporating innovative design conceptsWork collaboratively within a dynamic and creative design teamCollaborate with Merchandising and Product Development to ensure designs are feasible for production and are within budget and timeline, without compromising design integrityCollaborate and communicate with key partners throughout the design process including Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical DesignPresent designs during seasonal line reviews with cross-functional team members including Merchandising, Product Development, and SalesParticipate in fittings and work with technical designer to ensure proper fit, fabric selection, and construction details of the garmentCollaborate with merchant to become aware of seasonal hindsight to evaluate successes and opportunitiesCommunicate regularly with overseas vendorsMaintain a comprehensive understanding of the department's calendar, including key events and milestones, while adhering to deadlinesExecute design sketches, construction details and initial specs for tech packsCreate and accurately manage tech packs to team standards, resulting in successful execution of designs in productionProactively prepare for design representation in printouts and cads for product line reviewsReview design submits and samples with strong attention to detailEnsure accuracy in comments and approvals on design submits and samplesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field5-7 years of experience in childrenswear designKnowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and fit standardsExperience with CPSC regulations a plusAbility to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects at onceSelf-motivated and exceptional artistic ability, with watercolor hand-painting skills as a plusExceptional color sense, skilled in utilizing seasonal color palettes to create modern designsExcellent watercolor painting ability is a plusExperience working with overseas vendorsStrong creative and technical skills in Adobe Illustrator and PhotoshopProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteOverseas travel may be requiredSelf-motivated, possessing the ability to envision a concept and drive it forward from inception to completionResilience to adapt in the face of obstacles or setbacks, seeing them as opportunities for growthExceptional attention to detail, showcasing the ability to meticulously review and refine designs with precisionStrong problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze issues, generate solutions, and evaluate outcomesExcellent verbal and written communication skills, conveying ideas and feedback with clarityExtremely organizedMeticulous attention to detail and accuracyCollaborate effectively, fostering positive relationships with managers, team members, and cross-functional partnersAgile in a thriving fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesIf you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.The Solomon Page DistinctionOur teams, comprised of subject matter experts, develop an interest in your preferences and goals and we act as an advisor for your career advancement.
