Summary (Position Description): As a Controls Engineer the primary industrial platforms used are Allen Bradley (Rockwell), GE, Wonderware, and Opto22, with other systems as required on a job specific basis. Projects typically include variable speed drives and communications with other equipment and devices, as well as enterprise networking. Project scope often includes large industrial and commercial refrigeration systems and related controls, as well as other energy using systems.Reports To: Programming Controls Engineering Supervisor Status: Full time, Salary ExemptDuties & Tasks:Perform control system programming (PLC and HMI) including planning, logic development, programming, testing and verification, for both standard programs and project specific applications. Working efficiently and effectively with little error.Configuration of communication platforms using TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, ProfNet and Ethernet/IP. Perform testing of programs and testing of control systems before shipping.Produce documentation and manuals for controls projects and standard programs, including functional descriptions, engineering level summaries and program level detailed documentation.Provide or assist with hardware selection and circuit design, sensor engineering, and networking for controls and data.Assist with project start up, commissioning and training either remotely or at the project site.Respond to service requests from existing customers through remote support or at the customer site when determined.Able to generate device list, IO list and sensor ranges from P&ID's.Develop a high level of proficiency in integration with related equipment, such as screw compressor microprocessor panels, and overall refrigeration system operations, using various communication protocols.Additional duties assigned by supervisor.Who We Are:VaCom is a trusted "end user centric" systems integrator & advisor providing configurable industrial refrigeration solutions that include mechanical systems, intuitive automation and controls, and value adding aftermarket services driven by EDB 3.0 and that (3) works with and through a network of trusted and selected refrigeration contractors and OEMs.Conveniently located in Flowery Branch, Georgia 5 minutes off I-985 The Company is wholly owned by Bitzer SE (located in Germany), the Company is a private company and serves as Bitzer's SE's North American industrial refrigeration arm. On a global basis, Bitzer SE has 3,400 employees in 60 locations.Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):Effective written and verbal communications, in particular writing professionally organized and readable technical reports, as well as through programming and process documentation.Ability to communicate with others inside and outside company.Ability to learn new systems by applying fundamental knowledge.Requirements:Strong spreadsheet skills and word document preparation (e.g. documentation, manuals, and proposals) and other PC programs. Programming of control and HMI software including Allen Bradley, GE, Opto 22, FactoryTalk, Wonderware and similar programs. Server knowledge as well as server configuration and set-up. Strong mathematical, mechanical, electrical and electronic system fundamentals required, along with power and control theory understanding. Ability to trouble shoot electromechanical systems. Gain or expand knowledge of custom refrigeration applications and other energy processes.Work Environment:Office environment that includes office and light manufacturing/assembly operations. While on the manufacturing floor you are required to wear PPE that consist of steel toed shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection. Travel is required, estimated up to 25%. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; stoop; use hands; and reach with hands and arms to gain access to rooftops and/or freezers. This position will require environments with extreme cold temperatures. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
