Overview:The Human Resources & Payroll Specialist is responsible for performing HR-related functions, including but not limited to, payroll processing. This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and supports key areas such as payroll, benefits administration, performance management, HRIS reporting, and ensuring compliance with employment laws.Responsibilities:Process bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.Manage payroll transactions for new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status, collaborating with managers and the finance team as necessary.Ensure payroll tax compliance, including handling state and local tax registrations and filings.Work closely with the finance department to reconcile payroll and benefits costs, maintain audit-ready records, and resolve any discrepancies promptly.Oversee leave administration, including FMLA, ADA, short- and long-term disability, ensuring proper tracking, compliance, and handling of claims, while communicating benefit details to employees.Facilitate the performance evaluation process, working with managers to ensure timely completion and compliance.Maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS system (ADP), performing regular audits to ensure data integrity and supporting HR reporting needs.Prepare and analyze HR metrics and reports for leadership, including diversity and workforce data.Assist in developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives, such as surveys and team-building activities, to promote a positive work environment.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits regulations.Qualification:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.Minimum of 4+ years of experience in HR, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 2+ years of payroll processing experience.In-depth knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.Strong understanding of the recruitment process and employment regulations.Excellent judgment, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.Strong communication skills with a customer-focused, professional attitude.Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, evolving environment.High level of integrity, work ethic, and discretion.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
