About the Three Rivers Business AllianceThree Rivers Business Alliance (3RBA) is a membership-based, business advocacy, IRC 501(c)(6), chamber of commerce dedicated to making the Pittsburgh/Greater Allegheny Region an influential and diverse business community for people of all genders and sexualities (LGBTQIA+) by promoting economic development and growth. 3RBA is an affiliate chamber of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), serving all of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Southeastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia, and Northwestern Maryland, and is the local body for awarding LGBT Business Enterprises certification.Three Rivers Business Alliance Foundation (3RBF) is a 501(c)3 established in 2019 to assist 3RBA in funding its educational programming and allow 3RBA to concentrate on being a membership association.Position Summary:The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of 3RBA, responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial management of the organization. The ED reports directly to the President of the Board of Directors of 3RBA and to the President of the Board of Trustees of 3RBF and works closely with community partners, business leaders, and stakeholders to achieve the organization's mission and goals.Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Strategy:Develop and implement the strategic plan in alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and goals.Provide visionary leadership and direction to staff, volunteers, and members.Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the organization.Recruit, train, and provide ongoing support to board members and committee participants.Operational Management:Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and accountability.Monitors the financial operations to ensure timely compliance with the organization's budget. Supervise, mentor, and support staff, promoting professional growth and development.Collaborate with the boards on staff hiring, evaluation, and termination decisions.Recruit and support volunteers to achieve the programmatic and operational needs of the organizations.Community Engagement and Advocacy:Serve as the primary spokesperson for 3RBA, representing the organization to the public, media, and stakeholders.Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, government agencies, and community organizations.Advocate for policies and initiatives that support economic development, business growth, and LGBTQ+ business concerns in the region.Fundraising, Membership, and Development:Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support from diverse sources, including grants, donations, sponsorships, and events.Develop membership and oversee membership growth and retention plans and achieve membership goals.Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding partners.Recruit and facilitate membership involvement and growth including responding to the needs of current and potential members. Identify funding opportunities and prepare grant applications, ensure compliance, and complete grant reporting.Identify, approach, and secure sponsorships from businesses and organizations to support 3RBA events and initiatives.Marketing and Program Development Implementation:Identify the needs of the members and design and oversee programs and services that meet the needs of 3RBA members and the broader business community.Ensure the effective delivery and evaluation of programs, adjusting as needed to achieve desired outcomes.Fosters effective communication with the community and the members and promotes the brand of 3RBA and 3RBF, utilizing various marketing and communication strategies. Board Governance:Work closely with the Boards to fulfill the organization's mission and strategic goals.Provide regular updates and reports to the Boards on organizational performance, finances, and initiatives.Assist in the recruitment, orientation, and development of Board members and committees.Qualifications:Required:Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in a nonprofit organization, business association, or similar environment.Skills:Proven leadership and management skills with a track record of success.Strong financial acumen and experience with budget development and management.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.Foster relationships with DEI leadership.Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and development activities.Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.Experience in public speaking and media relations.Preferred:Experience working with LGBTQIA+ communities and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within these communities.Understanding of certification processes for minority business enterprises. Experience in managing a membership-based organization.Knowledge of nonprofit governance and best practices.Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and innovation.Knowledge of the Pittsburgh and Greater Allegheny region and its business landscape.Familiarity with digital tools and platforms for community engagement and management.The Three Rivers Business Alliance, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment.
