Our client, a realty corporation located in Midtown, NYC, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, excellent management skills, and the ability to work in a high-volume environment. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can assist in maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety.Pay: $60-65K + bonusResponsibilities:Assist the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus.Execute a 3-4 course menu daily, including salad, fish entrée, sandwich, and potentially a pasta or soup.Manage daily operations, including facilities, ordering, and receiving.Communicate with the Executive Chef regarding any significant issues or updates.Ensure all dietary restrictions and allergies are properly noted and adhered to.Oversee inventory management and purchase orders.Train, motivate, and assist team members to ensure smooth and successful operations.Maintain food safety guidelines and procedures.Monitor HACCP temperature logs and ensure compliance.Supervise associates in daily operations, including food production, service, and back-of-house duties.Assist in producing and executing daily and weekly café menus.Implement new culinary programs in collaboration with the marketing and culinary team.Participate in dishwashing and cleaning as needed.Dress Code:Chef coat requiredBring your own knivesRequired Qualifications:Ideally 3 years of experience as a Sous ChefProgressive culinary and kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or trainingCatering and/or corporate dining experience is a plusAbility to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in EnglishHigh volume, complex food service operations experience is highly desirableInstitutional and batch cooking experience is helpfulComprehensive knowledge of food and culinary trends, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentationServSafe certification is a significant plusMust be eligible to work in the United StatesMust be comfortable with doing dishes and cleaning as part of the roleItalian American culinary background is idealIf you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.The Solomon Page DistinctionSolomon Page offers a comprehensive benefit program for hourly employees.
