Summary Directs LISI Aerospace Fastener Division Engineering Department in all areas including but not limited to new product development, design validation, project/program management, product qualification and qualification retention.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Manages and oversees the daily function of the Engineering DepartmentLeads and develops product engineers, metallurgist and other associated employees.Manages, delegates, and plans the workloadOversees the action plan for each area and is ultimately responsible for ensuring deadlines and commitment to internal and external customers are met Interfaces with internal and external customers to provide information on current projects and products.Interface with other company functions, e.g. Manufacturing and Quality Assurance to facilitate production assuring product integrity and honoring customer delivery requirements.Resolves engineering related problems using new techniques, technologies, or concepts.Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.Actively participates in LISI Aerospace Global Engineering committees and teamsExpensive travel may be required (national and international) to solve and analyze customer requirements and/or product issuesConfers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.Forecasts operating costs of department and provides necessary information for budget requests.Provides timely communication to management and internal/external customers on new developments, which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.Ways of working, Experience, and BehaviorsTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Analytical - Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses experience to complement data; Designs work flows and procedures as necessary to implement new processes and enhance productivity in current processes.Technical Skills - Understands and has working knowledge of Engineering software, principles, and techniques. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from and accredited four-year University or equivalent combination of education and experience.Five or more years Design Engineering/ Project management or Product Engineering in a high volume environmentLeadership experience or equivalent transferable experience a plus Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, to listen and gets clarification, to respond well to questions, to demonstrate group presentation skills and to participate in meetings.Mathematical Skills Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.Reasoning Ability Ability to define issues and root cause of problems, collect / analyze data, establish facts, and validate conclusions. Must be able to present problem resolution with valid data. Requires the ability to interpret complex and varied technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form dealing with several concurrent abstract and concrete variables.Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of ERP System, Design Systems, Document Control systems.
