The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing competitive bids on complex infrastructure projects, analyzing project plans and specifications, and collaborating with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate cost estimations. Significant responsibility in guiding the estimation process and contributing to the company's success in securing major projects. Focus:Perform detailed analysis of project plans, specifications, and other documents to identify scope and requirements for assigned bid items. Understand general project requirements and unique conditions, discussing critical points with the VP of Estimating or Chief Estimator. Identify significant and non-standard elements of the project. Solicit quotes from key subcontractors and suppliers to support bid development. Utilize HCSS software for cost comparison and bid preparation. Ensure compliance with diversity and inclusion requirements, preparing good faith effort (GFE) documentation using relevant software tools. Develop thorough write-ups and supporting documentation for Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) submissions. Prepare comprehensive bid and proposal packages, including documentation for joint venture bids as required. Lead pre-bid meetings and ensure all bid items are properly priced and reviewed with the VP of Estimating or Chief Estimator. Establish equipment timelines and provide direction to estimation team members for accurate quantity take-offs. Determine project means and methods, and maintain open communication with the client's representative throughout the bidding process. Understand insurance and bonding requirements, completing financial analysis and risk assessment. Collaborate with the Chief Estimator to finalize and submit bids. Develop procurement strategies and oversee the issuance of subcontracts and purchase orders post-award. Skill Set:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. A minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction with at least 5 years dedicated to estimating roles. Experience with projects in the New York City area valued at over $100 million is preferred. Proficiency in the following software: HCSS Heavy Bid Bluebeam Microsoft Excel Primavera P6 SmartBid Strong written and verbal communication skills.
