The Stevie® Awards, headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, invites applications for a Public Relations Director to implement PR strategies and manage media relations, editorial placements, and speaking opportunities for the Stevie Awards.The Stevie Awards are widely recognized as the world's premier business awards programs. Stevie Award competitions receive more than 12,000 nominations each year from organizations in more than 70 nations and territories. Honoring organizations of all types and sizes and the people behind them since 2003, the Stevies recognize outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide.We are looking for a PR Director with global experience to increase awareness of the nine Stevie Awards competitions and improve performance in awareness of the Stevie Awards programs. You will work closely with the President, Marketing Director, and internal team members.Responsibilities:Develop and cultivate new or existing relationships with significant media outletsWrite and distribute press materialsDevelop strategies and stories about the Stevie Awards to share with selected media outletsSelect wire distributions, domestic and internationalMonitor budget distribution and performance of paid PRMonitor media mentions from the press and Stevie Award winnersEncourage media to cover and attend nine Stevie Awards ceremonies throughout the yearOrganize and publicize events, speaking opportunities, and media coverage to promote the call for entry periods of the Stevie Awards competitionsSource sponsors and paid partners to promote the Stevie Awards throughout the yearCreate monthly, quarterly, and yearly strategiesManage PR placements for nine international Stevie Awards competitions throughout the yearRequired Qualifications:Must be based in Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, or South Carolina Proficient English writer and speaker with at least 8 years of experience in a similar role, working at an agency, as a journalist, or for an in-house marketing teamWell-connected with both national and global media outlets and journalists operating in business, finance, technology, communications, marketing, and/or small business sectorsComprehensive understanding of all forms of social media, and how to approach each platform as it relates to making internal announcementsStrong understanding of search engine guidelines, algorithms, and current ranking factorsAbility to deliver high-quality work with strong attention to time and detailAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlinesCompensation and BenefitsSalary commensurate with experience401(k) with profit sharingPaid parental leaveCarefirst health insuranceOpportunity to travel to Stevie Awards ceremonies worldwideWork from home with occasional in-person meetings (once or twice a year)
